The Organized Teacher Toolkit is a practical, judgment-free guide for elementary teachers who want to do their job well and have a life outside the classroom.
Instead of more tips, hacks, or unrealistic expectations, you’ll learn a proven system that helps you decide what actually needs to get done—and what doesn’t—so you can leave school prepared more often.
By the end of this book, you'll have a clear plan for getting the right things done during the day without staying late, sacrificing your home life, or running on fumes.
Inside, you’ll discover The Organized Teacher System, built on four essential pillars that thousands of teachers are already successfully using:
IT ALSO INCLUDES:
- Real-Life Success Stories: Gain inspiration from teachers in the classroom right now who have successfully transformed their professional and personal lives using these strategies from The Organized Teacher System.
- 15 organization resources to download instantly from the book so you can get results quickly.
Teacher burnout isn't caused by a lack of dedication. It's caused by trying to survive an overwhelming workload without the systems, organization, time management, and boundaries needed to make teaching sustainable.
It's why so many teachers feel like they're sprinting through the entire day just trying not to fall behind.
It's why I wrote The Organized Teacher Toolkit.
If you're like most teachers, you didn't go into education expecting to spend your evenings grading papers, searching for materials, cleaning up classroom clutter, answering emails, and trying to figure out what needs to get done before tomorrow.
Yet somehow, teaching has become all-consuming.
You work hard. You care deeply about your students. You stay late. You take work home. And despite your best efforts, it can still feel like you're constantly trying to catch up.
The problem isn't that you're not working hard enough.
The problem is that most teachers were never taught the systems, routines, and boundaries needed to manage the countless responsibilities that come with teaching.
That's exactly what you'll find inside this book.
Whether you're a teacher looking for a more organized, sustainable way to teach or a principal searching for practical ways to support and retain great teachers, The Organized Teacher Toolkit provides a roadmap for creating a classroom that works for you instead of creating more work for you.
Inside, you'll learn the same strategies that helped me go from feeling overwhelmed and exhausted to feeling organized, prepared, and in control of my time—without sacrificing the quality of my teaching.
It's the book I wish someone had handed me during my first seven years in the classroom.
BOUNDARIES
The foundation of leaving school on time more often isn't just about working faster or being more efficient, it's about protecting your time like it matters, because it does. Without boundaries in place with your principal, team members, and caregivers, it's nearly impossible to get everything done on time.
Boundaries keep you from becoming so overwhelmed that you start to lose the very best parts of yourself that make you a great teacher!
In this book you'll get to:
-
Set effective boundaries (even if it you haven't been successful before) that allow you to get your work done and go home at the end of the day feeling calm and prepared
- Practice setting boundaries with practice scripts and sentence frames when you aren't sure how to say "No" or things go off track.
- Easily make decisions when extra work is asked of you (like that committee you're usually voluntold to join)
- Have a clear plan to get back on track if you fall back into ignoring your boundaries because we all do that, right?
When you have clear boundaries in place, you'll be able to manage your time better.
TIME MANAGEMENT
If you've ever sprinted through your day trying not to fall behind or wandered around your classroom aimlessly looking for those copies you made, skipped lunch to catch up on grading, or promised your custodian you'd set the school alarm when you left school because you were the last one out of the parking lot again, chapter 4 is for you.
Most teachers are never taught how to manage their time in a real classroom with real interruptions and unrealistic demands.
While I can't give you more hours in the day or change the unrealistic demands put on teachers, I can show you a way to use the hours you already have a little better than you're using them now with a few simple tweaks.
You get discover how to finally:
- Value your time and teach others how to respect it
- Prioritize your to-do list and use the Time Timer method so you can work smarter
- Leave school completely prepared for tomorrow while it's still light out more often with some simple systems you already have access to
The last obstacle that wastes a lot of your limited time is all of the visual and physical clutter in your classroom.
CLUTTER FREE SPACE
No matter how many organization systems you put in place, they won't work if you have too much stuff. Classroom clutter isn't just costing you time, it's costing you brainpower and creating decision fatigue.
Like a lot of teachers I work with, you may be scared to throw it away because it takes time, you spent money on it, or you'll need it one day, right? We'll get to that in chapter 5 and 6.
You'll also get practical solutions to clear some of the clutter in your room like the overflowing cabinets, the almost complete class-set of copies you saved in your filing cabinet when you were teaching 3rd grade five years ago (in case you move back to 3rd grade).
You'll be able to feel calm walking into your classroom because you'll actually have a clutter free:
⭐️ teacher desk
⭐️ classroom supplies
⭐️ small group area
⭐️ classroom library
⭐️ cabinets, closets, and shelves
⭐️ filing cabinet
⭐️ Google Drive
⭐️ digital files
...and a system to ensure the clutter doesn't pile up again
Once the clutter is cleared, you get to use organization systems and classroom routines that save you time because they work better.
ORGANIZATION SYSTEMS
Imagine your classroom flowing more easily, it feels calmer because there are less interruptions because your students know exactly what to do, and you finally have the freedom to focus on what matters most: teaching your students.
Classroom systems and routines create structure and ensure your classroom runs smoothly all year long (even when you have a sub)! Since you don't have a lot of time to create and test the systems, I did it for you!
In chapter 7-11, you'll also get proven systems and routines for:
⭐️ creating a productive classroom environment and layout backed by research so your students learn best
⭐️ lesson planning faster so you aren't scrambling at the last-minute
⭐️grading assignments quickly at school
⭐️ organizing daily lessons and copies so you can grab what you need quickly
⭐️ passing out, collecting and sending student work home without doing it all yourself
⭐️ managing absences and unfinished work easily
⭐️ the best way to organize student, classroom, and teacher supplies
⭐️ easy and clear caregiver communication
...and more
You can access the simple systems and routines so you have more time to teach, plan, and enjoy your life outside of the classroom!
