TRANSCRIPT

Hey teacher friend, it’s Kristen—and welcome to Day 3 of the Classroom Reset Challenge!

First of all, can we take a second to acknowledge how far you’ve come?
You’ve already cleared out a paper pile, simplified your supplies, and now—
You’re ready for one of my favorite parts of this whole process...

But hey—if you're just joining us or you’ve missed a day or two, no worries at all.
You can catch up at your own pace.
Just click below to revisit:

👉 [Day 2 – Supply Sweep + Inventory]

Each task is short, actionable, and designed to help you walk out feeling lighter and more in control.

Let’s talk about letting your students help.

Because here’s the thing:
This doesn’t all have to fall on you.
You’ve carried the load all year.
But this? This part doesn’t have to be done alone.

Today, we’re going to create a quick, powerful system that gives you helpful hands and lets you actually breathe while your classroom gets reset.

Here’s your task for today:

Grab a whiteboard or your easel and write down every task that needs to get done before the school year ends.

That includes the big things from your school’s official checkout list—you know, the one from your custodian or office manager—

But also:

  • Anything that needs to be cleaned

  • Furniture that needs to be moved

  • Shelves that need to be emptied

  • Cubbies that need to be wiped

  • Books that need to be sorted

  • Markers to test

  • And every other little thing that’s swirling in your brain

Once the list is up, assign two students per task.
(You can adjust depending on your class size and list.)

And here’s my favorite hack:

Tell students that once they finish their task, they grab a baby wipe and wipe down any surface they see.
Tables. Desks. Counters. Chairs.
This keeps them productive and cuts down on the “I’m done!” interruptions that pull your attention away every two seconds.

To make this even easier, I created a Student-Powered Reset Task List you can download. It’s full of simple, age-appropriate jobs your students can totally handle. You’ll find the link right below this audio.

This simple structure gives you something priceless:
30 minutes of quiet time to actually work through your to-do list.

You can use it to pack, sort, file, or even just sit and breathe for a minute—whatever you need.

And then when you're done?
Throw on a movie.
Let your students lounge in their newly cleaned-out classroom while you finally sit down and make a dent in your report cards.

Why this works:

It gives your students ownership.
It gives you breathing room.
And the results? Are immediate.

You’ll be shocked at how good your classroom looks afterward—without doing it all yourself.

No students?

If your students are already out for summer, that’s okay too.
You can do this solo—or just keep the checklist handy for next year so it’s not all on you again.

Even if you spend 10 minutes writing out your own master list, that mental unload can go a long way.
Just getting it out of your head and onto the board or paper helps reduce overwhelm and creates clarity.

You don’t have to do it all in one day—today is about resetting your mindset as much as your space.

I’ve heard from so many of you this week saying things like:

“I want better systems next year.”
“I have stuff everywhere.”
“I’m tired of always doing it all.”

I hear you.
And that’s exactly what I help teachers with inside The Organized Teacher Club.
We take all the chaos, the piles, the mental load—and turn it into systems that work for you, not against you.

This challenge? You’re getting a little preview of what’s possible.

And today’s reset with your students is one of the simplest ways to see that you don’t have to do it all alone.

Before you go:

📸 Snap a photo of your whiteboard checklist, your students in action, or the progress they helped make—
Then share it in the Facebook group to be entered to win our $50 Amazon gift card.

You're not just getting through the end of the year—you’re doing it with purpose.

And tomorrow? We’re going to finish strong by setting up future you for success when you walk back in that room in August.

You’ve got this. I’m cheering you on—every step of the way.

Talk to you tomorrow!
