Hey teacher friend, itâs Kristenâand welcome to Day 3 of the Classroom Reset Challenge!
First of all, can we take a second to acknowledge how far youâve come?
Youâve already cleared out a paper pile, simplified your supplies, and nowâ
Youâre ready for one of my favorite parts of this whole process...
But heyâif you're just joining us or youâve missed a day or two, no worries at all.
You can catch up at your own pace.
Just click below to revisit:
đ [Day 1 â Paper Pile Reset]
đ [Day 2 â Supply Sweep + Inventory]
Each task is short, actionable, and designed to help you walk out feeling lighter and more in control.
Letâs talk about letting your students help.
Because hereâs the thing:
This doesnât all have to fall on you.
Youâve carried the load all year.
But this? This part doesnât have to be done alone.
Today, weâre going to create a quick, powerful system that gives you helpful hands and lets you actually breathe while your classroom gets reset.
Hereâs your task for today:
Grab a whiteboard or your easel and write down every task that needs to get done before the school year ends.
That includes the big things from your schoolâs official checkout listâyou know, the one from your custodian or office managerâ
But also:
-
Anything that needs to be cleaned
-
Furniture that needs to be moved
-
Shelves that need to be emptied
-
Cubbies that need to be wiped
-
Books that need to be sorted
-
Markers to test
-
And every other little thing thatâs swirling in your brain
Once the list is up, assign two students per task.
(You can adjust depending on your class size and list.)
And hereâs my favorite hack:
Tell students that once they finish their task, they grab a baby wipe and wipe down any surface they see.
Tables. Desks. Counters. Chairs.
This keeps them productive and cuts down on the âIâm done!â interruptions that pull your attention away every two seconds.
To make this even easier, I created a Student-Powered Reset Task List you can download. Itâs full of simple, age-appropriate jobs your students can totally handle. Youâll find the link right below this audio.
This simple structure gives you something priceless:
30 minutes of quiet time to actually work through your to-do list.
You can use it to pack, sort, file, or even just sit and breathe for a minuteâwhatever you need.
And then when you're done?
Throw on a movie.
Let your students lounge in their newly cleaned-out classroom while you finally sit down and make a dent in your report cards.
Â
Â
Why this works:
It gives your students ownership.
It gives you breathing room.
And the results? Are immediate.
Youâll be shocked at how good your classroom looks afterwardâwithout doing it all yourself.
Â
No students?
If your students are already out for summer, thatâs okay too.
You can do this soloâor just keep the checklist handy for next year so itâs not all on you again.
Even if you spend 10 minutes writing out your own master list, that mental unload can go a long way.
Just getting it out of your head and onto the board or paper helps reduce overwhelm and creates clarity.
You donât have to do it all in one dayâtoday is about resetting your mindset as much as your space.
Iâve heard from so many of you this week saying things like:
âI want better systems next year.â
âI have stuff everywhere.â
âIâm tired of always doing it all.â
I hear you.
And thatâs exactly what I help teachers with inside The Organized Teacher Club.
We take all the chaos, the piles, the mental loadâand turn it into systems that work for you, not against you.
This challenge? Youâre getting a little preview of whatâs possible.
And todayâs reset with your students is one of the simplest ways to see that you donât have to do it all alone.
Before you go:
đ¸ Snap a photo of your whiteboard checklist, your students in action, or the progress they helped makeâ
Then share it in the Facebook group to be entered to win our $50 Amazon gift card.
You're not just getting through the end of the yearâyouâre doing it with purpose.
And tomorrow? Weâre going to finish strong by setting up future you for success when you walk back in that room in August.
Youâve got this. Iâm cheering you onâevery step of the way.
Talk to you tomorrow!
